The Santa Rosa Family Health Center is a 35,000 square-foot, ultramodern facility located adjacent to Christus Santa Rosa Westover Hills Hospital and serves as the home to the residency program. The center features 48 exam rooms, four fully equipped procedure suites configured for office ultrasound, colposcopy, casting and fracture management, exercise stress testing, and minor office surgical procedures. In-house laboratory services are offered with on-site phlebotomists.
Additionally, the clinic utilizes Athena Clinicals Electronic Health Record, operating in a totally wireless environment using Motion Computing Tablet PCs. The electronic health record is accessible to residents from the hospital and from home through the HIPPA compliant CHRISTUS secure physicians web portal.
Since the Family Health Center serves as their “landing pad,” each resident is provided ample office space with private desks, book storage areas, a personal landline phone and a desktop computer with high-speed Internet access. Each office is large and is shared by three residents who are free to make their space as comfortable as they desire.
Daily lectures and workshops are held in our state-of-the-art conference rooms located on the 2nd floor of the clinic building. The conference rooms are equipped with full multimedia presentation. A full lunch is provided during the daily noon lecture each day by the CHRISTUS catering service. A daily dose of knowledge and free food—what more could you ask for?
Located in the Westover Hills neighborhood in beautiful San Antonio, the program is a stone’s throw from SeaWorld and an easy 15 minute drive to the famous downtown San Antonio River Walk and historic Alamo.
Residency Applicant Criteria
PLEASE NOTE: A passing score on USMLE Step 2 (CK and CS) or the COMLEX equivalent IS REQUIRED before we can rank an applicant for our program. We highly recommend that you schedule Step 2 CK and CS to be completed no later than December 31 in order to assure that we have your scores before our ranking deadline of Feb. 10.
Applications are accepted starting September 15 of each year. For those selected, we begin the interview process starting in October and host interviews on Thursdays and Fridays through January. Please note that we receive many more applications each year than interview slots available, so application to the program does not guarantee an interview.
Eligible applicants are assessed on the criteria of academic credentials and performance, preparedness for rigorous graduate medical education, aptitude and ability, communication skills, and specific personal qualities including commitment to family medicine, community service, leadership, motivation, and integrity. The CSRFMRP does not discriminate with regard to sex, race, color, age, religion, disability or veteran status.
How to apply:
We accept applications only through Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and take all of our residents through the National Residency Match Program.
Our ERAS program number is 130420.
