Welcome to Sports Medicine in San Antonio!
The Alamo City is filled with athletes of all ages and interests. Texas loves the bright lights of Friday night football, but also is developing into a destination for runners, mountain-bikers, golfers, and many more outdoor sports enthusiasts.
Our faculty posess some of the most experienced and well-respected sports medicine minds around, and the Texas Center for Athletes is a world-class multi-specialty facility that is the 'home' for the fellows' year.
The fellowship is rich in event experience, with all levels of high school, Division I, II, and III universities, and professional teams to medically cover. We are also involved with annual events such as Ballet San Antonio, the Valero Texas Open, and the San Antonio Rock n' Roll Marathon. San Antonio often hosts a number of NCAA events, and our program is always involved in the medical care of the visiting teams.
Along with weekly didactics, the fellows will enjoy rotations with hand surgery, MSK radiology, physical therapy, and pain medicine. In addition, the fellows work with the Anatomy Department of the University Texas Health Science Center of San Antonio as teaching assistants for the MS-1 Gross Anatomy Course (extremities only).
Although we are a relatively young program, we have deep connections to the community and a history of excellence through the Family Medicine residency.
I invite you to take a closer look at our program. Contact Tammy Hysten to arrange a rotation or interview.
