CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital-Westover Hills Opens Vascular Lab

(SAN ANTONIO, TX – July 22, 2010) – CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital–Westover Hills (CSRH-WH) announced the opening of its state-of-the-art Vascular Lab. To commemorate the opening, a blessing ceremony and open house took place Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at 2:00 p.m.

The event featured a prayer and blessing by Guillermo Casipong, CSRH-WH Lead Chaplain, and comments from Jeff Bourgeois, FACHE, CSRH–WH Vice President/Administrator, and Patrick Carrier, President and C.E.O., CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System.

CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – Westover Hills Vascular Lab Medical Director, Matthew Sideman, M.D. commented, “Vascular Lab procedures are conducted with imaging and non-imaging methodologies and I am pleased to see CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System’s commitment to bring this level of service to the Westover Hills community.”

The CSRH-WH Vascular Lab provides a full range of diagnostic testing, including:
• Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD)
• Cerebrovascular Disease
• Deep Venous Thrombosis (DVT)
• Renal Artery Disease
• Mesenteric Arterial Disease
• Aortic Aneurysms
• Chronic Venous Disease

Other specialized examinations offered at the CSRH-WH Vascular Lab include:
• Vein mapping for peripheral or coronary bypass
• Arm artery mapping for coronary bypass
• Vascular screening clinics.

“The Vascular Lab is yet another example of our dedication and commitment to bring quality health care to the Westover Hills community and to our CHRISTUS mission, to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ, said Jeff Bourgeois, Vice President and Administrator, CSRH-WH. “The Vascular Lab allows us to offer non-invasive testing for almost all known or suspected vascular disorders for our patients. Often, we can determine the severity of a problem and prescribe a treatment without the risk and discomfort of injections and other invasive procedures,” added Bourgeois.

Since the July 11, 2009 grand opening of CSRH-WH, the Hospital’s team of dedicated physicians and Associates continue the work of extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ begun by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word and CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System more than 140 years ago. Within its first year of serving Westover Hills community, the fastest growing area of San Antonio, CSRH-WH has introduced a wide range of services including: general and orthopedic surgery; KidsSTOP; a dedicated pediatric inpatient unit; comprehensive imaging services, including interventional radiology; gastrointestinal (GI) services; acute dialysis; emergency services; urology; rehabilitation services; women’s services/obstetrics; vascular surgery; the sleep lab; and more. Later this year, we will open our second medical office building, Medical Plaza II, which will be home to many new physician offices and outpatient services.
