Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center
For more than 30 years, The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio’s Division of Pediatric Hematology/ Oncology/ Immunology, in association with CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital, has provided care to infants, children and adolescents affected by hematological, oncological and immunologic disorders.
The Howard A. Britton, M.D., Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders was officially created in 1997 and is the only center of its kind in South Texas. State-of-the-art treatments are provided to children and adolescents suffering from cancer or blood disorders in a “one-stop shop” fashion. For patients and parents’ convenience, our outpatient clinic with an on-site admitting office, and our inpatient unit are both located on the 8th floor of the CSRCH. All ancillary services and other pediatric subspecialties are available either in the hospital itself or in the David Christopher Goldsbury Center for Children and Families.
Our multidisciplinary teams include hematologists and oncologists, immunologists, surgeons, nurses, psychologists, social workers, child life specialists and chaplains.
We believe that children and adolescents, along with their families, should receive culturally sensitive information about their condition and treatment. This approach ensures that we include patients and their families as active participants in the therapy.
