Pulmonary Rehabilitation

People diagnosed with pulmonary disorders, who need to learn how to effectively manage their symptoms and treatment, and overcome physical limitations related to their disorder, are offered a comprehensive program of education and exercise.

Candidates are thoroughly evaluated, and a plan of rehabilitative activities and therapies is devised. Participation includes phase 2 intensive goal-oriented activities. Patients can continue in the phase 3 maintenance program once intensive therapy is no longer needed.

Candidates for pulmonary rehabilitation include people diagnosed with COPD, cystic fibrosis, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, and neurological deficits affecting breathing, or those with pre- and post-lung transplants.

The goal of pulmonary rehabilitation is to restore participants to the highest level of function within the limits of their disorders.
