Wound Care

The CHRISTUS Santa Rosa team of Wound, Ostomy, and Continence (WOC) nurses manages conditions such as: stomas, draining wounds, fistulas, vascular ulcers, pressure ulcers, neuropathic wounds, urinary and fecal incontinence, and functional disorders of the bowel.

Skin Care & Wounds

The highly qualified specialists at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital offers skin care and wound services for:

  • Percutaneous Tube Management
  • Fistula Management
  • Pressure Ulcers
  • Dehisced Wounds
  • Diabetic Ulcers
  • Vascular Ulcers
  • Unna Boot Applications
  • Incontinence
  • Skin Tears
  • Tape Stripping

Enterstomal Therapy

  • Pre-operative counseling.
  • Supply prescriptions.
  • Introduction to support group.
  • Follow-up peristomal skin complications.
  • Follow-up for problematic management.
  • Annual stomal evaluations.
  • Post-operative assessment, education, and management of stomas.

The Wound and Enterstomal Department provides service for all inpatient, outpatient, and home health departments.

Prescriptions are needed to cover all outpatient wound/ostomy services and referrals. Please provide written prescriptions for services that are requested (ie: evaluation, treatment, recommendations and debridement) at the time of the referral.

The CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Practice

  • We treat inpatients, outpatients, and home health patients.
  • We can provide pre-operative ostomy teaching and stoma marking.
  • All departments of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – New Braunfels are included in our scope of services.
  • We maintain an outpatient clinic Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Referral System

Outpatient Referrals

  • Please call 830.606.9111, extension 3359.
  • Fax the order to Centralized Services, 830.643.5299 and an appointment will be scheduled with the patient for an evaluation.

Inpatient Referrals

  • A written order on the patient’s chart is needed for a WOC nursing consult.

CHRISTUS Santa Rosa sponsors the New Braunfels Ostomy Support Group, which meets the second Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the McKenna Professional Office Building #1, located directly across the street from CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – New Braunfels.
