Santa Rosa Children's Hospital Foundation
Fund-Raising Activities
The foundation’s most visible fund-raising activity is the annual Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) broadcast. This televised fund-raising program is the culmination of the fund-raising efforts of thousands of local volunteers and their many special events and fund-raising promotions. The telecast originates from Six Flags Fiesta, Texas and it is broadcast live on News4 WOAI. Since it began in San Antonio in 1984, CMN’s year-round fund-raising campaigns have raised more than $25 million on behalf of the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital.
Other fund-raising activities include:
- Special events and benefits (such as golf tournaments and auctions).
- Direct-mail appeals.
- Volunteer phone-a-thons.
- CMN corporate partner sponsorships.
- Annual Soft Rock 101.9 Radiothon.
- Business and industry campaigns.
- Project-specific requests from private foundations.
- Planned giving, wills and trusts.
- Endowment campaigns.
- Capital fund-raising for major projects.
Each year the foundation board reviews requests for support, which are presented by the hospital’s leadership. The Foundation’s annual grants to the Children’s Hospital provide essential support for operating and capital needs. The largest single fund-raising effort conducted by the foundation was the Miracle 2000 capital fund-raising campaign which raised $19 million to underwrite the total cost of construction, equipment and furnishings for the David Christopher Goldsbury Center for Children and Families.
Throughout its entire fund-raising activity, the Santa Rosa Children's Hospital Foundation places the highest priority on stewardship: the timely and appropriate handling and recognition of charitable gifts to ensure that donors are kept informed of how their donations have been or will be used to support the foundation. The foundation is committed to accurate reporting and accounting for all charitable gifts and it is dedicated to maximizing the charitable contribution while keeping administrative and fund-raising costs as low as possible.
